These Churros Poppers are a delightful twist on the classic churros, perfect for sharing or enjoying as a sweet treat any time of day. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated with a cinnamon-sugar mixture, they are irresistible!
Ingredients:
- cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
Directions:
- In a medium bowl or a brown paper bag, combine the cup sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- Heat about 2-1/2 inches of oil in a deep-fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 375F.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2-1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat. Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Allow the dough to cool slightly. Scoop and lightly roll the dough into balls about the size of walnuts.
- Carefully place 3-4 dough balls into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, turning as needed.
- Remove the fried dough balls from the oil with a slotted spoon and immediately toss them in the reserved cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
- Transfer the coated Churros Poppers to a plate and repeat the frying and coating process with the remaining dough balls.
- Serve the Churros Poppers immediately while still warm and enjoy the crispy, cinnamon-sugar goodness!
